Middle School
Preparing Students for the Rigors of High School
Our Middle School curriculum focuses heavily on preparing our students for the rigors of high school. Using a combination of technology and traditional learning, our students are fully prepared to enter high school and thrive.
Students continue to attend specials like Art, Music, Physical Education, Library, and Computer/Technology. Religion classes continue to be taught by supporting parish priests, reinforcing the values of their faith and building on their knowledge from the lower grades.

Grade 6
Building the Foundation
Students begin to understand how variables and equations are used in specific situations. Reading becomes more challenging, with text types such as Scripture, books, and articles as the focus. They also use technology to produce and publish longer pieces of writing.

- Determining area, surface area, and volume
- Understanding how a central idea of a text is conveyed to the reader

Grade 7
Deepening the Work
Students continue to work with ratios and proportions in single and multi-step problems. They work with scale drawings and the slope (steepness) of a line, and use several resources to conduct research designed to answer specific questions. They also analyze how a drama’s or poem’s structure (e.g. soliloquy, sonnet, psalm) contributes to its meaning.

- Understanding how figurative language is used by an author
Grade 8
Ready for High School
Students take what they have learned about slope in seventh grade and use linear equations to analyze and solve a variety of problems. They work with the Pythagorean Theorem (and its converse) and transversal cuts. In Language Arts, they read informational writing across all subject areas and incorporate what they have learned, and are challenged to write more argumentative and explanatory pieces rather than narrative.
- Defining, evaluating, and comparing functions
- Approximating irrational numbers with rational numbers
- Analyzing the development of a theme over the entire course of a text
- Determining whether or not the reasoning is sound in a text
